Broadband
for Elmswell & Woolpit
BT announces availability date for broadband
7th August 2003 - Press release for immediate use (ref:
PR 183)
BT has
announced great news for Internet users in the
Elmswell/Woolpit area: broadband will become available
for subscribers on the Elmswell telephone exchange from
26th November 2003. The Elmswell exchange serves homes
and businesses with telephone numbers starting 01359
24xxxx. Distance from the exchange will still remain a
factor determining availability.
This follows recent expression of strong local demand for
broadband. The tough, 500 pre-registration trigger level
set for the Elmswell exchange by BT on 10th July 2003 was
passed within two weeks - a unique achievement for
villages in the area.
The announcement of this firm ready-for-service date
allows a number of months for local companies and
residents to look around carefully before deciding on
their preferred Internet Provider and broadband package.
Pre-ordering of broadband now becomes possible, either
from one's existing Internet Provider or from one of the
numerous other providers offering broadband services.
A preliminary checklist summarising some of the questions
to be borne in mind before ordering broadband is being
prepared for the campaign website www.elmswell.net. A
wealth of detailed information about broadband can be
found on the website www.adslguide.org.uk.
The Broadband Campaign for Elmswell and Woolpit plans to
be present with information about broadband at this
year's Elmswell Fair on Sunday September 7th 2003.
